Professional Experience

Rich began his career in the tax department of accounting firm Ernst & Whinney's Tampa, Florida office. His subsequent work as a real estate attorney at two local law firms and at global law firm Baker & Hostetler in Orlando, Florida gave him a strong foundation with structuring trans­actions and real estate closings. Rich worked on his first 1031 exchange transaction in 1988.

Rich was a real estate attorney for the law firm Frascona, Joiner & Goodman in Boulder, Colorado, where he started their 1031 exchange department. He left the law firm to co-found his first 1031 exchange business. Rich's connections with clients lead him to start his own 1031 exchange business, 1031 Solutions, in 2002. Rich focuses exclusively on 1031 exchanges now. His background allows him to advise clients on complex exchanges, including reverse and improvement exchanges.

Community Involvement and Hobbies

Rich has served him community in a variety of roles, including serving on the City of Boulder Liquor Licensing Board, which had to balance the needs of businesses with the best interest of the neighbors surrounding the busi­nesses. Rich currently serves as a board member and water reporter for the Homestead Hills Homeowners Association outside of Granby, Colorado. He is also an adviser and board member for Collie's Closet, which focuses on prevention of teen suicide.

When he is not working, you can find Rich exploring the trails around Boulder or fishing in the mountain rivers.
